Daniel Schneider
Head of Engineering at Hotellistat

Hey there! I'm Daniel 👋

I'm super stoked to be the Head of Engineering at Hotellistat, working with an awesome team to create cool hotel tech solutions.

I've somehow gotten pretty good at graphic design, programming, systems architecture, and process optimization. Plus, I really enjoy teaching others and teaming up with like-minded folks.

Lately, it feels like building software has lost its magic, with everyone talking about ChatGPT, Web3 and no-code. But we can't forget what comes before all and lays the foundation for everything you build: Quality. Design and function need to work together, and if your software doesn't excell in both areas, you should fix that ASAP. And that's what I'm all about!

Working at Hotellistat has been and will continue to be an amazing ride. I'm grateful to lead such a fantastic team and help our customers thrive in the competitive hotel industry. We're in this together, making a real difference through teamwork and innovation.

When I'm not at work, I'm always on the hunt for new tech and the latest trends, but take care to not immediately jump on to the newest hype-train. It's anyways tough enough with the tech world moving so fast, but hey, FOMO keeps me going! All in all, I'm just a tech-loving, innovation-seeking, design-passionate person with endless curiosity.

Core Principles

People first

We're all humans yet we're all very different. It's important to build a people-centric culture that respects and values each individual's unique strengths and weaknesses.

Make it appealing

Design is a way to express yourself and your values. It's one of the most important disciplines in software development nowadays that I believe comes too short too often.

Hyper optimized minimalism

Something about modern minimalism has always attracted me a lot. Iterating over and over the most simple designs, to lead them to perfection.

Be direct

It's important to be able to say what you mean and mean what you say. Sugarcoating everything or staying quiet helps nobody.

Be detail oriented

Everything needs to be well thought through and optimized. I am a perfectionist and I am not satisfied with anything less.

Be candid

Being a show-off is in no way productive nor does it make you look especially smart. I value candor and honesty in my communication.

The Start

My first programing experiences

Jan 1, 2014 - Jun 1, 2016

From an early age, I have been deeply fascinated with the inner workings of technical devices, often disassembling everyday gadgets to explore their components. My passion for programming was ignited after learning about microcontrollers and Arduinos, which led me to develop programs such as one utilizing inverse kinematics to control a robotic arm.

My interests expanded into the realm of IoT, delving into Espressif microcontrollers like the ESP32. Additionally, I began working with Raspberry Pis, leveraging their capabilities to manage and secure my home network.
